I think it's time to talk a bit about japanese art.
I think I like japanese art the best when it's absurd. Before I started to study at an art academy I was very fascinated by surrealism. I used to know nothing about art so I just didn't know that Salvador Dalí paintings were so horribly ugly. As I got into the world of contemporary artists I learned to dislike the aesthetics of those surrealist painters. I think here in Japan I start to like surrealism again. Because it has humour.
Here comes some works from artists I like:
Yokoo Tadanori
I'm not much for his paintings, but I like the wood sculptures (and furniture pieces) by:
Keisuke Yamamoto
And maybe my absolute favourite:
Kobashi Yosuke
