a word called inhibition

I learned a new word today. I have been looking for this word for such a long time, but how do you find a word that you don't yet know?

The word is "inhibition". It means to restrain from acting naturally because of embarrassment, you know some things are just not socially acceptable for some reason.

I checked up the swedish translation, it is "hämning" 

Suddenly the word lost its charm, because I know "hämning" since before. I've heard it in so many contexts, it became spoiled. 

Then I started to read about the word "hämning". Suddenly it started to reclaim its charm.
