Moving to Kyoto

So
Here I am in Kyoto.
On Monday - my first meeting with my supervisor and class.
I'm in Kyoto and I'll study wood sculpturing.
I think I underestimated the whole thing, moving to Japan and all.
I thought it wouldn't be such a big deal and that I could spend the first week editing some video of a performance documentation I did in Amsterdam.
No way.

In Seoul, the evening before departure. They said I'm really bad at packing, just stuffing things in into the wrong part of the bag. But they were really professional and afterwards we complimented each other for a good packing. Not that I did much.

I had company on the way to school. There are some nice exchange students here staying at the same dorm as I.

Road to school. A lot of those small asian looking houses, that look different to the chinese looking houses. Really nice.

Yeah and luckily we got help by japanese students to go to the ward office.
And this, oh no, this place! We were just moved around between different places in this buildings, sitting next to different tables filling out forms for 3 hours. And everything in japanese of course, had even to write my name with japanese characters, and my age here is 62, and the year is 26... And the other exchange students speaks at least some japanese and takes pride in writing and reading. Meanwhile filling out forms about health insurance and some registration there was a little earthquake, but I didn't notice.
 Seika University!

 Canteen.

It's so much better than the food in the Rietveld Canteen, cheaper too.
This is some kind of language joke that I don't understand since I don't read japanese. Apparently the title is in german. Anyways they have a lot of "clubs" in this academy, and this one is for hiking. I might join it!
Honami. This one is very cute.

On the way home from school we passed by this superb place for meditation.
My room in the girls dorm. It's not fancy, but it's ok. Kitchen is really bad though.
bye!
